The Scrapstore ‘Playpod’ has revolutionised play at Pucklechurch Primary School. It essentially allows them to use manufacturing offcuts such as tubes, nets and hoops in their creative play. Children, parents and staff have been trained in adopting a more creative attitude towards play. Where previously children could choose from traditional lunchtime games, they now have the opportunity to dress up, engage in fantasy games and use the Play pod equipment however they please.
St. John's Church of England VC School in Clifton held their summer fair this month - here is what happened...
We love our trips to All Saints Church, which is located almost at the end of our lane. Each Easter we celebrate with residents from the village and parents, with children in the church. However this year we arrived in style!
Each year group in school made either musical instruments, palm leaves or flags to wave and play as we walked to church.
We asked parents to line the lane and route to church and cheer and wave us on – just like Jesus all those years ago.
We were so surprised when parents tore leaves and branches down from the hedgerows, and waved and cheered us on. "It’s just like in the Bible story," one 5 year old exclaimed, obviously loving all the merriment!
We are extremely proud to announce that St. Chad's Patchway C. of E. Primary School in South Gloucestershire has been named as Wales and West Regional Winner of the Church School Awards 2011!
"This award is partly the result of our school's commitment to Community Cohesion and Global Citizenship, as well as our commitment to promoting Christian values throughout our community," said a school representative.
St. Chad’s has demonstrated the whole of the school community is aware of the vital role they play in nurturing the local and wider community. The Staff and Governors have developed a clearly defined school vision: 'To be a happy learning community based on Christian values which enables all children to reach their full potential.'
