The 2012 Church School Awards are looking to recognise great work at schools like yours. Across the UK, schools are being asked to describe what the goals of nurturing global citizenship and fostering community cohesion mean to their school, and how these have been embedded in school life over the past 12 months or so.
This presentation was given by Revd Canon David Hoyle at the Diocese Headteachers' Conference on 6 May 2011.
This Review was commissioned by the Secretary of State for Education, Michael Gove MP last Summer. It was led by Sebastian James, the Director of Operations for Dixons plc. Local Authorities were represented by Barry Quirk, the CEO of Lewisham Council. It also included the Tesco Property Director, the former Oxford University Vice Chancellor, and two other private sector CEOs.
The purpose of the report was to look at the lessons of the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) capital programme, and make proposals for a new capital spending regime for schools. The starting point was that the national school building programme was too expensive and too bureaucratic.
The report summary is attached below, and a copy of the full report can be found here.
We are extremely proud to announce that St. Chad's Patchway C. of E. Primary School in South Gloucestershire has been named as Wales and West Regional Winner of the Church School Awards 2011!

St. Chad’s has demonstrated the whole of the school community is aware of the vital role they play in nurturing the local and wider community. The Staff and Governors have developed a clearly defined school vision: 'To be a happy learning community based on Christian values which enables all children to reach their full potential.'
